The objective of the course is to train creative illustrators who are capable of producing creative, innovative and quality illustration work. The course emphasizes the manual expression skills, and the exploration of various media in illustration and advertising related drawings and paintings. At the same time, the course will take advantage of the computer aided design software and use them to further enhance the quality of creative illustration.
All illustration students will be required to go through the first common year of Foundation Studies in art fundamentals and general communication studies. The main area of studies include descriptive illustration, expressive illustration and interpretative illustration where students will learn illustration skills ranging from realistic, analytical, interpretative to expressive approaches.
Students will begin with observational studies, then gradually moving towards the exploration of idea and concepts. The students will also learn general graphic design, typography, visual layout, colour studies, photography, computer graphics, studio drawing, figure drawing, desktop publishing design, etc.
