The Department of Music provides an opportunity for music enthusiasts, who meet the minimum academic qualification to study music. The institute's 3-year fulltime course encompasses both Western classical & Eastern aspects of music. Students may choose either Western or Chinese instruments for their principal and second studies.
The course emphasizes the pursuit of expressional skills in voice, composition, keyboard and string instruments as well as in-depth understanding of theory and principles of music. The curriculum also covers the study of Computer Music, Music Business and Arranging.
The study and appreciation of ethnic music also forms part of the curriculum. The incorporation of local cultural contents in music composition and the expression of cultural characteristics in performances are encouraged. CAREER OPPORTUNITIES FOR MIA GRADUATES
